Item #621: Ransomware/Cyber Events:  The Impact on Health Care Providers

(Originally recorded on 01/29/2020)

Ransomware attacks are on the rise. The healthcare industry is particularly vulnerable because hackers understand the providers can’t afford NOT TO PAY in an effort to contain and mitigate the breach of protected health information(PHI).

RBC Limited, recently, has been working diligently with providers who have experienced a ransomware attack, guiding them through regulatory aspects as well as re-engineering work flows to maintain operations. Resources will become available soon from  our governmental partners.

Do you know:

Your reporting requirements?

Your best weapon in breach of PHI?

How to handle a third party breach?

Learn about real events and solutions.

This session will:

define a ransomware attack,

reporting requirements,

preventative actions,

mitigation and response.

It will also address third party breaches, HIPAA  compliance and the importance of your business associate contract.
